I can never quite resist sites like this, although the grog in me questions the authors German tank production numbers - no way Germany could have produced 15 000 Panthers and tigers.

I do wonder what the designers were smoking when they dreamed up the landkreuzers back then.

iirc it was about 1200 tigers and around 6500-7000 panthers.
accurate numbers about panthers were effected by lots of fog.  ;)
Toonces - Don't ask me, I just close my eyes and take it.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

You're right to question those production numbers. The Germans didn't come close to producing 15,000 Panthers & Tigers. It was around 8,500 if you count Panthers, Tiger Is and IIs.

If you asked American soldiers back then, every German tank was a Tiger :P

I normally like David Axe's stuff quite a bit, but this one is bugging me...

QuoteThe ZTQ, which Beijing apparently developed in order to help defend China's western land border, is impressive in a lot of ways—and not the least because the U.S. Army, the world's leading ground combat force, tried and failed for years to acquire a similar vehicle.

No, the US Army didn't "fail", the chose not to pursue the XM8.  There's a big difference.

I wasn't too impressed by his T-34 article either

Axe is usually very good, especially when reporting on-site.  Some of the "analysis" articles, though, are a bit ill-informed.

Ugh, some of his statements are just dumb:

QuoteThe ZTQ represents one military niche where China has actually exceeded the Pentagon's own accomplishments.

We don't know much about the ZTQ aside from what we can glean from the few photos, which have circulated in China's popular Internet military forums for a few years now.

Wtf? We don't know anything about it, so how do we know it's exceeded anything?

Lol his writing style definitely is quite distinct [emoji4]

He actually made up a dead tree book that went into greater detail/had more items:

He sent me a copy gratis and I always intended to write an article for it - this was back at WG - but I never got around to it unfortunately. Still have the book on my shelf too.  :-[
