QuoteOK - not sure I agree with that - it is not just about how fast they move but how they move to a certain place as a coherent unit.

It's a very significant change for Eastern Front games where the Soviets have D quality units that would normally only be able to move a single hex when Disrupted.

As Soviet units would often disrupt after just a handful of losses/at their first morale check, Soviet defensive lines tended to collapse quickly and defenders would face destruction in detail through ZOC blocking by the faster German units. The Soviets having the ability to actually retreat is a game changer.

With standardized McNamarra unit values, there's a gap in capabilities between Soviet and German units that can be difficult for the Soviets to overcome. Not losing units (or not having units be fired at over and over as they're retreating hex by hex) as soon as they're Disrupted helps.

It also helps in any scenarios with armoured breakthroughs if the infantry manning the frontline can still retreat 3-4 hexes. That means it will take longer to create a clean breakthrough and that it will require more planning in advance to do so.

I suspect that the change in Disruption effect will be a significant improvement. Now, I wonder if Soviet rifle battalions will be a little less adept at shooting down Luftwaffe planes? When I played Smolensk '41 before, it got to the point that I stopped dive bombing Russian infantry. They always seemed to manage to shoot down 1-2 planes in each sorty and I was losing far more VP's using the Luftwaffe than I was gaining.  :idiot2:

@Ubercat:  That's surely been changed.  I remember nonesuch in either Stalingrad or Kursk.  Now air interdiction in Normandy...gah...

Hi all,

With Christmas passed, we're happy to announce that Moscow '42 has been upgraded to Gold Standard

For those that aren't aware, this title covers the historical Soviet 1941/42 winter counter offensive that almost destroyed Heeresgruppe Mitte in front of Moscow. In addition the hypothetical Fall Kreml (Operation Kremlin in English) is included. Operation Kremlin was an extensive deception campaign that the Axis enacted to distract from Fall Blau (Operation Blue) the German 1942 summer offensive in the Ukraine and Caucasus. Essentially this situation considered the Fall Blau forces heading to Moscow, rather than to Southern Russia. This was exactly the operation the Soviets had planned to face in June 1942 and were surprised when the Germans struck further south.

More info on the upgrade here;

Here are a few in game shots;

This upgrade is a free patch for all existing Moscow '42 owners and all future purchases will be of the Gold version of the game.

Thanks,

David

Is there a scenario list / unit count available for these?

While the monster sizes look cool I find myself preferring smaller-midsize engagements.

There's plenty of mid to small-sized scenarios.  I'm playing one now PBEM and it's 36 turns long with about 100-125 units per side.  Very manageable.

Hi All,

Time for just one more in 2017...

We're very happy to get Kharkov '42 Gold out the door before the corks pop on the New Year!

All the details and additional screenshots here;

Lots of interesting things in this new release including a fabulous new Campaign by César 'Indragnir' Librán Moreno. Using a lot of new information from Glantz as well as a lot of our own resources direct from the Soviet archives, César has built a campaign quite different (and we believe more accurate) than the stock versions included. César has included extensive notes on what is new and what has changed.

Here are a few screen shots - more in the link above;

Thanks,

David
