I also wanted NATO Air Commander to be a simple and fast-playing game. An ideal playing time would be an hour or so.

This is great, it increases the probability to get this actually on table exponentially.

A MUST buy. I was stationed on a NATO base as a dependent from 1960 to 1963, again from 1970 to 1974, and on active duty from 1976 to 1980. A full 11 years, back when it was the old Soviet Union.

I spent the Cuban Missile Crisis in a forward air base in Germany, sleeping on top of a 55 gallon drum of water in the base bomb shelter. Quite a fun thing to do for a seven year old.
