Win 8 Runs only MS Browser?

It simply amazes me at times how Microsoft repeatedly insists on shooting itself in the foot.

This does seem like a foolish move on their part.

I consider myself reasonably techno savvy but why in the world would MS put their entire OS on the line to shut out competing browsers? I guess I just don't understand the economics of browsers.
