Much to the surprise of absolutely no one (except those people who still believe Pres. Obama intends to be fiscally responsible), the US set a new one-day deficit record last Thursday: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/oct/18/us-debt-jumps-400-billion-tops-17-trillion-first-t/

$17 trillion in debt now; and literally no upper limit (only a time limit) on spending until next February.

To be fair, Democrats say the debt increase only allows Mr. Obama to pay for the bills he and Congress have already racked up, and that it doesn't encourage new spending.

Fast forward to 5'40" in the President's speech to Congress, for the quote that internet pundits are GRAARRRing about recently.

Heck, allow me to wargarble a bit myself:

"Now that the government has reopened and this threat to our economy is removed,"

No, the shutdown wasn't a threat to our economy, it was a symptom of the threat. The threat is still there. But even if the shutdown per se was a threat to our economy, IT WASN'T REMOVED YOU JUST KICKED IT DOWN THE ROAD A LITTLE, THAT ISN'T REMOVAL!!!

"...all of us need to stop focusing on the lobbyists, and the bloggers, and the talking heads on radio and the professional activists who profit from conflict,"

The professional activists who profit from conflict? So we should stop focusing on whatever you're saying, President?  :P

"...and focus on what the majority of Americans sent us here to do, and that's grow this economy, create good jobs, strengthen the middle class, educate our kids, lay the foundation for broad-based prosperity and get our fiscal house in order for the long haul."

Step one, kick the debt ceiling down the road.

Step two, release the largest single deficit spending bill in the history of the world, raising the national debt to the largest in world history.

Step three, leave the system in place that creates enormous debts with no way to ever pay it back.

Step four, [to be filled in later].

Step five, profit.

You know the US has become insane today when:

The answer to endless wars is more wars.

The answer to the police state is more tyranny.

The answer to a dead economy is starting a trade war.

The answer to regulations is more laws.

The answer to endless debt is more debt.
