My pleasure :)  If you think Free Fallin' winning is bad, take a look at 1991.  Shoulda been Smells Like Teen Spirit.  We got Even Flow instead.  Either way, light years different than Free Fallin'.  And wait until the rest of the 90's rolls out ;)

Even Flow doesn't bother me as much. Liked it when it came out but like everything on "Ten" got over played, but i switch the channel when "Free Falling comes on .........Now i'm free......freeeeee Faaaallling " ... like the early Tom Petty stuff better. looking forward to the coming lists.

I remember how everyone took to Nirvana back when Nevermind dropped for the first time...everyone was listening to it. I thought it was good, because it was different, but didn't think it was anything super-amazing or groundbreaking. I guess I have better memories associated with Even Flow, personally.

Just a bump in case you haven't looked at the winners recently.  These Decade Brackets are shaping up to be EPIC!

To answer my own question posed in the 1999 voting....no 16 has come back to win. Rocket Man at 15 and Go Your Own Way at 14 were the lowest seeded to win by far.

I guess as bad as I get the seeding wrong sometimes, you guys always pull me through  O0

I think the only times I've been disappointed in the seeding was when a tie caused one of my favored songs to lose. Born in the USA bit the hardest, losing in a tie to a song one bracket higher. But it's all fun and games anyway, an enjoyable diversion from that dreaded condition known as "real life".

So, MD, are you going to do brackets for all these winners to have a decade winner and an overall winner?

It's funny, I look at that list and all I can think of is "what an odd collection of songs".

The short answer is, yes.  The long answer is really just how I'm going to do it.

I am in the process of putting all the songs I didn't use into six 16 song Wild Card Brackets for each Decade.  Starting tomorrow, I will have a Wild Card Bracket for the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's each Sunday for six weeks.  At the end of those six weeks, I'll have 24 winners to add to the 40 yearly Bracket winners to make a grand, 64 song March Madness type playoff.  Coincidentally, the beginning of the Decades main event, the playoff to decide it all, will start at the same time as the aforementioned March Madness.  By the time we crown a hoops champ, we will have decided The One Song to Rule Them ALL!  And just in case I haven't said it before, thank you all for coming along on this with me.  It has truly been a labor of love.  And I couldn't have done it without any of you.  Thank you.   :smitten:

Indeed, a compliment. I may have to make a playlist from it.  O0
