It's about time someone necro'd this thread!  :knuppel2:

Somehow this game slipped off my radar over time, but after seeing a few YT videos about it as a result of YT's recommendation system my attention was fully grabbed!

Aparently in one of the newer updates you can now start in a star system (terran planet, mars like planet, alien planet and their moons, plus astroid belts) and you can choose where in that system you want to start.
On the planets you spawn in a planetary lander and need to choose a nice spot to land and get going.
If you go at it smartly you can use several parts of the lander to construct early blocks, but also keep it intact enough to use it as a main generator and systems control platform. Pretty neat!
I am only scratching the surface still, cause its the first time I am playing the game, but the sheer amount of things you can do and how blocks work together is super interesting.
A real treat for people who like to 'fiddle' with things in their game.
25 euros well spent! I can see myself pumping a lot of hours in this.

I got this game over a year ago on my son's recommendation, but have never played. I must say that I have seen few games that are updated so regularly, but I really do not know much about it.

Any annoying DRM to speak of? This sounds like a hell of a deal.

I don't think so.  In the Scottish edition it would be "nae mousie..."

cf. Robbie Burns:

quote

Wee, sleeket, cowran, tim'rous beastie,
O, what a panic's in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty,
          Wi' bickerin brattle!
I wad be laith to rin an' chase thee
          Wi' murd'ring pattle!

I'm truly sorry Man's dominion
Has broken Nature's social union,
An' justifies that ill opinion,
          Which makes thee startle,
At me, thy poor, earth-born companion,
          An' fellow-mortal!

I doubt na, whyles, but thou may thieve;
What then? poor beastie, thou maun live!
A daimen-icker in a thrave
          'S a sma' request:
I'll get a blessin wi' the lave,
          An' never miss 't!

Thy wee-bit housie, too, in ruin!
It's silly wa's the win's are strewin!
An' naething, now, to big a new ane,
          O' foggage green!
An' bleak December's winds ensuin,
          Baith snell an' keen!

Thou saw the fields laid bare an' waste,
An' weary Winter comin fast,
An' cozie here, beneath the blast,
          Thou thought to dwell,
Till crash! the cruel coulter past
          Out thro' thy cell.

That wee-bit heap o' leaves an' stibble
Has cost thee monie a weary nibble!
Now thou's turn'd out, for a' thy trouble,
          But house or hald,
To thole the Winter's sleety dribble,
          An' cranreuch cauld!

But Mousie, thou art no thy-lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men
          Gang aft agley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain,
          For promis'd joy!

Still, thou art blest, compar'd wi' me!
The present only toucheth thee:
But Och! I backward cast my e'e,
          On prospects drear!
An' forward tho' I canna see,
          I guess an' fear!

You'll get a steam key, so its Steam DRM. No other scheme afaik.

I turned my older PC into a dedicated server for this game. Grogheads are welcome to join, but the big caveat right now is that I am not comfortable with running the server 24/7.
So it will run on request. I am figuring out some kind of remote start possibility that would basically start the PC and then load the SE server automatically, but that's not in place yet.
Anyway, keep an eye out for servername Digital Nomads Star System.

The server is ready, but in order to protect the server I am using a whitelist feature. This means if you want to play on the server you'll have to contact me on Steam so I can add you to the Steam Group that I have granted sole access to the server.
This way random douchebags cannot interfere with our gameplay.

So only group douchebags can play?

That covers it pretty well, yup!  :smitten:
