Title: A question for you WW2 board gamers out there
Post by: acctingman on May 20, 2017, 11:36:54 PM
Is there a source online that would show what types of platoons the various nations of WW2 deployed. Maybe something that broke down a company for each nation?

I haven't seen that in one place.  The closest I've come is a series of articles that Avalanche Press runs on its website, but only for German infantry and Russian infantry.  If you do a google search...there is plenty on US TO&Es.  For the others (Brit, Italian, Japanese, minor nations), focused searches might get you there.

Here are the Avalanche Press articles

Check out the World War II Source Book edited by John Ellis. Its the greatest book ever written!

It has TO&Es for all combatant nations. Its on the Divisional level broken down to regiment and battalion, but with the graphical TO&E, and the information given, you can figure it out down to the company and platoon level.

Here is a sample of the info. provided:

The book is an invaluable resource. It has everything...literally.
