Compass Games is about to Ship Paths to Hell.  The next game in the War Storm Series

This time the game system goes to 1941 Eastern Front.

Previous games were La Bataille De France 1940, and A Las Barricadas!

Of course I need another 'tactical WWII system' like a "hole in the head," but in general I like Compass Games, so finding it hard not to hit the "buy" button.  Also I like that they are harvesting not often plucked early and pre-war periods.

Before I hit "buy", does anyone have feedback on the system?

I have LBdF40 and quite like the system. In fact, it would be/will be my favorite platoon/company scale system if it covered more of the war. Paths to Hell is a step in the right direction.

While a more complicated system that something like LnL's Nations at War, I like the way it produces realistic results and depends so much on leadership. Bawb has played it more than I have, and has both games, so when he's back online can probably give you some additional thoughts.

Like other Compass Games offerings, the components are high quality, the rules are pretty clear, and it feels like it's worth the money. I'll be picking up the new game myself at some point.

Like panzerde, I have the France 1940 game and 'A las Barricadas'. I'll almost certainly get 'Paths to Hell' once its available in the UK

It really is an excellent system if you like this scale. More additions covering more periods of the war (NW Europe for example) would be very welcome.

They are also working on a solo / cooperative module that will work with the games in the series. It is called Alone in the Storm.

As far as I'm aware, 'Alone in the Storm' is only for the France 1940 game.

Edit. I stand corrected! Just checked the Compass Games website and it is indeed for all 3 modules. Might go on my wish-list after all now :-)

Very good. I have to wait for it to hit the UK retailers :-((

I'd be interested to see what you think of it.

As soon as I finish my game of Kawaguchi's Gamble: Edson's Ridge, I'll get it on my table.
