While not specifically a wargame, this is a very fine strategy boardgame.

I watched a couple of reviews on YouTube, and one of the reviewers described this as "heavy." It is that...quite complex, but accessible.

The level of complexity reminds me of Lords of Waterdeep, but Terraforming Mars has more and different actions you can play.

One player to five players, and plays terrific in the solo variant. Strong thumbs up with this one.

Fourth highest board game rank of all time.

^^ I'm a huge fan of Terraforming Mars. The nice thing is that the difficulty ramps up as you play the game, since you're developing the complexity as you build your projects (in the form of cards). Someone trying to step in part way through a game would probably be completely overwhelmed. But if you've been there from the start, the gradual buildup means it isn't that difficult to keep up with what's happening and developing.

Plus, adding players doesn't increase play time. The whole game operates on a few 'timers', and additional players are just advancing those timers that much more quickly.

Silent Disapproval Robot

I think it's a great game as well.  The map expansion adds some nice variety but steer clear of the Venus expansion.  It's not very good and far too expensive for what little it offers.

ALERT ALERT ALERT!!!!

Now coming to a Steam account near you! Terraforming Mars will be released as a PC game on Steam, Q3 of this year. I looked it up, and now have it wishlisted.

Looks like there is a beta/demo available now.  I haven't looked it up yet, but the full game is on my wishlist.

I enjoy the board game, but the player board does leave something to desired with it not holding the pieces in place.

The beta was short lived and only allowed us to go through a tutorial they made for the game.  Don't think there is any NDA at this point so I'll just say most all of the feedback, including mine, told them to go back to the drawing board for the tutorial.  Hopefully there will be more beta events as the game gets closer to release.

New second beta open now and I guess they redid the tutorial.  I got my key, so I'll give it a whirl soon.
