Sir Slash

Ex's can not only expand quickly, they can constrict quickly too. So fast in fact that the last time you see them is when they leave for work in the am. Then..... just nothing, gone. Faster than the new guy on a Star Trek show.  :o  And even worse, sometimes..... they...come...back.  :hide:  Everything on my Steam Wishlist is on sale but if I buy them, then my list will be empty.  :'( And Christmas is coming. So....

There are less counters than most EF games. Each counter is a division. Take a look at Jason and my AARs to get a feel for the number of counters and a pretty good feel for the game.

There are still a ton of counters (at least for the Soviet side), but the game (at least for the Soviet side) actively denies your ability to move them much. So there's less micromanagement in that sense. ;)

On the German side there's more micromanagement in other ways, but not in standard hex-pushing ways. It's more like role-play management. (The Sovs get some of that, too, but not as much. Each side plays quite differently.)
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

JTS's got a few titles on sale.
I downloaded and tried basically what is the Windows demo or single player version for JT's Modern Air Power and found it not too bad. Very easy to learn and play. Haven't bought the Vietnam or Middle East versions of the game though.

btw, anyone know how 'Scourge of War' series performs on old (7+ years) hardware?

Should run fine : https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/scourge-of-war-waterloo/12996

You could always try the demo (http://www.scourgeofwar.com/downloads.shtml) for Scourge of War: Gettysburg.
Other Scourge of War games should have similar (low) requirements.
downloaded the demo and after watching my troops move i got my specs verified with game-debate ( http://www.game-debate.com/ ) and bought the collection on sale, also bought the newer waterloo collection as well, oh my...  :crazy2: lucky, had my coupon at hand - couldn't resist  this year's 47% off!  :-"

cheers! ...and thanks again for the demo link.

Wonder if those ever go on sale.

I'm not sure if there's enough meat to the Vietnam and Mideast titles for me to pull the trigger at those prices.  Plus that online activation DRM for a single-player game..  :pullhair:

A sale might get me off the fence, though, if there's ever one.

re-read the thread, couldn't find:
