Tallulah Bankhead: "I'll come and make love to you at five o'clock. If I'm late, start without me."

"When all other trusts fail, turn to Flashman." — Abraham Lincoln.

"I have enjoyed very warm relations with my two husbands."

"That helped."  Lauren Bacall

Master Chiefs are sneaky, dastardly, and snarky miscreants who thrive on the tears of Ensigns and belly dancers.   Admiral Gerry Bogan.

Interesting article.

I've long thought the later over-romanticism about Bushido paralleled the over-romanticism of equivalent western feudal warlords (i.e. "knights").  More so in recent decades.

When you read historical accounts of events they often don't match the romanticized view of some universal code of honor, in practice, on such things.

That Bushido wasn't really a thing until it was later philosophically concocted long after the fact, doesn't surprise me.  It's often been the same regarding warrior classes of antiquity around the world.  Warlords will be warlords.

I think the more pragmatic historical realities are more interesting anyway.

Samurai would change sides easily as long as they think it benefits them. There are many many examples. O0
