Also, on the checkout page it mentioned Bert Stiles' 'Serenade to the Big Bird', about the author's time on a B-17. I read the book many years ago but remember it being quite moving, and different from most of the 'I was there' type WW2 books I'd read before. It's not free but it is only 99 cents.

I have that in paperback somewhere. Old man have me a box of his old books and I clearly remember seeing that one. Plus a ton of Fleming novels

Finished this up the other day, was a pretty good read.  I was a bit perplexed at 2-3 references to the "United Nations" though. Were the Allies referred to as such in WWII??

UN was founded post-war, but usage of the phrase 'United Nations' for the Allies predates the UN organization.
