We have lost a giant in intellect and reason.
"These men do not want a happy ship. They are deeply sick and try to compensate by making me feel miserable. Last week was my birthday. Nobody even said "happy birthday" to me. Someday this tape will be played and then they'll feel sorry."  - Sgt. Pinback

it might be an exaggeration put in stupid tabloid-words by a fellow physicist (of zoo-planktonic level in comparison)

but the planet is now only half as smart as it was yesterday... :'(

RIP Stephen Hawking

i am sad

the comforting thing is we knew there is a next genius somewhere, a promising boy or a girl who are just in their early postdoc position now and known only to the few peers in their according science community, hopefully maybe rising to Hawking's brilliance eventually.

Regardless of how good a PC game may be it will always have its detractors and no matter how bad a PC game may be it will always have its fans.

Sad news for physics and the world at large. Considering he was not supposed to live past his 20s, making it to 76 is amazing and a testament to will and medical science.

Damn. Very sad and a great loss for all humanity.

I like to imagine he'll be busy playing golf with the likes of Copernicus, Galileo, Einstein and Newton. Just think of the idle chatter they will have.
