Post by: Thrawn on March 23, 2016, 10:42:56 AM
The World At War Series is getting a reboot. We have re-named the World At War series to World At War 85. We are now have two great designers/developers working on the series in Matt Lohse and Keith Tracton. We will be providing a new historical outline with a lot of new exciting things to come.

We will be printing new updated and is some cases expanded editions of our World At War 85 series games. We will not be following the old series history or horror theme. Our new edition will be of a military theme only. So here is what games are coming and at you can expect to find in them.

COMING UPGRADE KITS: We will be making upgrade kits available for older customers, the map upgrade kit will be in the new map style having both winter and summer styles. Our second upgrade kit will be a printed v2.0 game manual. Both the map upgrade kit and the printed manual kit will be will be separate products. These upgrade kits are for those that already own a game from the older edition and prefer to upgrade their game.

Storming the Gap - This game will include the older editions of Eisenbach Gap, Death of the First Panzer Army and the Gamers Guide. This game will include 14 scenarios, 3 double-sided full-color maps and about 260+ counters.

Blood and Fury - This game will include the older edition of Blood and Bridges, Battles within Battles, Operation Garbo, Baltic Fury and Yankee scenario from Eisenbach Gap. This game will include 37 scenarios, 4 double-sided maps and about 675+ counters.

The Untold Battles - This game will include the older edition of The Untold Stories, Paris is Burning and Into the Breach with the Black Day Campaign. This game will include 32 scenarios, 4 double-sided maps and about 875+ counters.

America Breached - This game will include the older edition of America Conquered and the Texan War of Independence. We do not have a map, scenario and counters count yet.

Strike Force Africa - This game will include South African, Cuban, Angolan units and scenarios from Line of Fire expansion. We will be expanding this by some limited NATO and Warsaw Pact forces. We do not have a map, scenario and counters count yet.

As we move forward in the series we will be adding historical maps and historical units to the series. We hope you excited about the new direction for the series and we love to hear what you thinking.

The first two titles, Storming the Gap and Blood and Fury, are to enter Kickstarter soon it seems. Here's their updated WaW'85 store page (https://store.lnlpublishing.com/series/world-at-war-85-series).

I've also joined their (closed) Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/162307634419966), there's more stuff to see there.

I own most of the original titles, really like their art, was not thinking to get too excited about remakes par the new Arab-Israeli set. But here I am, waiting to enter my credit card info to yet another Kickstarter project  O:-)

PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE THE KICKSTARTER EU FRIENDLY. Shipping from US kills me ...  :hide:

There's now a series of playthrough videos available by Gimpy Gamer, and whie the rulebook remains unveiled there's a few subtle changes already visible.

One is the role of HQs, where previously they were chits like everyone else and priority targets, now they have a more subtle role and are instead placed to board for the duration of each activation. They can be still targeted as part of a stack, I believe, but not in a same way.

The other thing I noticed is they've loosened up some of the restrictions for Move + Fire, where now (those units capable of it that is) NATO armor can move up to half of their movement point with a deduction of no d6 and up to full movement with a loss of one d6 for their combat role, while Soviet units do the same for a loss of one and two d6 from their combat roll, respectively. This change looks like making for much more fluid battlefield. I don't quite get the new HQ role yet, from the videos, though. Hopefully they release it soon for the public.

Anyhoo, here's the two videos now out:
