Wow, it's been a long time since football (decent football) has come to the PC!
This is awesome...I will be buying. Tecmo Bowl next, with Fuad Reveiz DLC? 👍
+1. Hope you can mod it. (https://www.grogheads.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aarcentral.com%2Fpics%2Fplease.gif&hash=79b5fa88c4dbd5efb66763bad0d968825be8d4ef)
^^If the rosters, or at least the player ratings, cannot be modded then the game will very quickly be worthless. Stock Madden ratings tend towards the completely insane.
Just wait for the kneeling during the anthem DLC.
I don't want Madden. I want Front Page Sports Football 95 and 98.
Was Madden 08 on PC moddable?
pretty sure it was since people were releasing updated rosters for years after it came out and thought they did other stuff too...
sure, madden will never equal the old front page games, but it is a solid game for what it is and nothing else out there.
for serious simulations, ootp/front office football will be released this year so year looking good for football
I'm definitely in. I love NFL and I loved Maddens representation of it. I've got the latest one on PS4 but as the PS4 uses the TV, it doesn't get used a whole lot.

As long as the kneeling doesn't detract from the gameplay, and it's my understanding it won't, then I'll be in on that too - so long as that money goes to a worthy cause. 😘

I has last years rosters on it so in that regard yes - though I still didn't win much with the Bears :) . Would be interested to know what spec PC you need to run the graphics on the trailer.
Appears to be a community that was dedicated to modding....

Although none of us know to what degree the new game will allow it.......luckily for me I would be fine with the base game anyway:)
My all-time favorite football game was Madden 98. It was easily modded and was focused on strategy. Lots of X's and O's and play diagram stuff. It reminded me a lot of the coaches hammering plays into us and then practicing them...and then how things actually worked in a game. And then they turned Madden into a sucky video game.
Sigh...
The best I have been able to find since then is Action! PC Football and it is just not the same.

Wait.. what the f^*k is
this?!
Quote from: Article.. Madden 19 was confirmed for PC as part of the new Origin Access Premiere subscription package.
"Premier
subscription package"? What the f^*k IS THIS?! Oh, EA, you filthy exhaust ports. I should've guessed. I wonder if EA will also be jamming it full of digital gambling micro-transactions? What a bunch of c^nts.

This x2
I recall Madden '98 with fond memories. Seems as if they started dicking around with the formula too much sometime after.

It's the look of that hobbit sporting the peach fuzz moustache of a sexual deviant which freaks you, isn't it?
No it's more the sweater and maybe the look at the end...you know, it's pretty much the whole thing.

For those with EA's Premiere Access, tomorrow is release day for Madden PC......finally, returning to the PC!
I actually signed up for the Premiere Access to give it a try for a year...instead of owning the games (including Madden) you get access to 123+ games for the duration of the subscription. So that means I also get access to other titles. Since typically with sports titles I never play more than one year, I think this might work out for me....we'll see.
Is there a "manager" mode (for the PC version) where you can pick the plays and the game sims it? I know for the PS4 Madden you could, but my ghetto PS3 game couldn't do that :'(

I don't recall all the modes from last year, but pretty sure it had a "coach" mode.....I guess I'll find out tomorrow:)

Love to hear your comments about the game...once you pry yourself from your PC that is O0
I still play Madden 2005 on the PC so I am very interested in this new version.
How much is this subscription thing you're talking about? I love me some Madden, but I don't know if I love it enough to do some subscription BS...but I'm trying to keep an open mind.

subscription is optional for ea games, you can also buy just madden as normal when it officially releases on august 10th. the standard version is $59 while hall of fame edition is $79.
the subscription option does not just include madden, but all new ea games and 123 previously released games. therefore with your subscription you can play all those games including madden. you can pay monthly at $15 or yearly at $99. the bonus you get with madden is that if you choose the subscription route you get to start playing the full game today versus waiting until august 10th,
Got some time in......does have coach mode where you can pick the play and just watch things unfold.
Way too early to say how gameplay is but strangely finding the CPU challenging even on PRO mode, but might be me just being a little rusty. So glad to being playing on PC again!

First game-breaking bug found......Cleveland Browns went 11-5 in the first season:)
What kind of controller are you using? Amazon linky appreciated... :)
just an old xbox controller for the pc...nothing fancy
If a sim'd season has the Browns going 11-5...I question the game :timeout:
Does it have a Franchise mode?

yes...that is the way you can play seasons through it. beyond that they have the typical stuff of story mode, ultimate team, and exhibition.
Browns 11-5?? No sale 😎

All joking aside....this actually concerns me as it relates to how the game handles player stats. I know it's just a game, but....the Browns?....11-5?....that's like saying I look like Chris Hemsworth :uglystupid2:
In other seasons they have only won a couple games....things will always very. To be honest, Browns should actually show decent improvement this year
Can this game be played using a keyboard, or does it require a controller.
Second question..is there a true franchise mode, with generated rookies, and career stats tracking?
Third question..do I have to actually run the plays, or can I just call them and have the team execute.
Fourth question..is there a general manager mode, where the o and d coordinators call the plays and sets?
Thanks in advance.
48GB footprint is ... massive. Not sure I have the space, in any event.

Keyboard controls for PC: Madden NFL 19 keyboard and mouse controls (https://www.shacknews.com/article/106312/madden-nfl-19-pc-keyboard-and-mouse-keybindings-and-controls)
I don't have the game yet, but the answers to your other questions
should be: yes, either way (run the play yourself or coach only), I don't think there is a GM only mode.

1) Yes Keyboard is option, but not sure how easy to use
2) Yes, franchise mode with those things
3) You can do either...call them and just watch or take control
4) The following franchise modes exist:
- Coach, pretty much control everything including games
- Player, you control just a player on the team
- Owner, you manage the financials and high-level stuff--however, when you play a game you basically have option to call plays or control plays...I dont see a watch mode unless I have missed. Although you can go into super sim mode, which doesn't show you each graphically play, but shows you a recap of each play without you calling plays
Can you start will all fictional players for the teams?

The Browns should certainly be better this year, assuming injuries don't hit the wrong positions and such... But 11-5? Not even the biggest fanboy I've heard on the radio is predicting better than 8-8. And that is a pipedream if Jackson meddles too much and doesn't let his assistants do their job. I've watched too much pitiful football over the last 19 (!!!!) seasons to see him screw it up again. :crazy2:

No argument that likely in real life the Browns won't go 11-5, but this is a video game that has a lot of factors which doesn't know players, just ratings. Since that first run, I have not seen it again in the game they winning that many and even in that season, looking at the other teams in the division, a number of star players were injured. Who knows what other factors came into play, didn't really look that closely. But like I said, in most other runs I have them with six wins or less although I am not going to be shocked if the real life browns do better than .500, and that is even coming from a diehard Steelers fan:)
I remember playing Front Office Football 6 or 7, simming the entire season and having the Cleveland Browns win the Super Bowl with a roster that had won 3 games in real life. I stopped playing it after that. Which brings me to Peter King and a sad little gem he wrote this weekend:
"I know nothing should shock me any more, but this does: Cleveland had 11 first-round picks in the eight drafts between 2009 and 2016. None are left on the team. DID YOU READ WHAT I JUST WROTE? Trading Corey Coleman to Buffalo for a bag of footballs—um, actually a future draft pick—Sunday proved the Browns should keep John Dorsey in power for years. The mayhem of impatient change just has to stop.".
Just...wow.

Corey Coleman's looking pretty good right now compared to their stupid pick of Antonio Calloway... a guy who had a long list of transgressions, including being stupid enough to test positive for marijuana at the freakin' scouting combine!!! You really can't make this stuff up.
I watched Hard Knocks last night where the Browns are featured this year.....did not get a lot of good vibes about Hue Jackson as coach. He seems a little soft and too much of a "players" coach to change the culture there. Should be an interesting year....

he coached under marvin lewis with cincinnati. lewis is a soft players coach as well so im sure hue learned a lot from marv.
How has that guy not had a aneurysm yet?
I haven't played a Madden game since 04 or 05 (and tried 16' out for a couple days) so his rant wouldn't apply to me, but I can see his frustration as a die hard Madden fan.

Anything made by EA could be substituted as the subject. ;D
I'd call it "nickel and diming" but it's more like "fiving and tenning" by those bastids.
If I end up getting the PC version it will only be for running single-player Franchise mode. So hopefully I don't need to give a damn about the typical soul sucking EA microtransaction bullshit. Hopefully.
Anyone playing this on the PC without a controller? If so, how difficult is it to play using the K&M?
Also, how is the coaching sim mode? (sorry, I don't know the actual Madden lingo for the modes)? You can select the play and the game sims it, correct? Is this for full 15 min quarters?
Thanks
No idea on keyboard, can't imagine it being great, but guess better than nothing....
It has coach only mode although likely not fully what your looking for...pretty sure you press a button to start the play and then unfolds from there. Believe you have to do all the kicks as well. If your meaning not even watching the game and just pure simming, yes you can do that too. Quarters are adjustable to what you want including 15 minutes.

Just buy a one month subscription to EA origins premiere (think like $14), you can try it to see if you like and play all the other games too.
